The work
The site
A south slope above the vineyard, with summer heat above 40 °C and almost no shade.
The response
The cellar is buried in the hill, where the earth keeps it at 16 °C all year. Above it, a long concrete colonnade shades eight guest rooms and the tasting room.
Materials
Rammed earth from the site, white concrete for the colonnade, and cork insulation from the estate’s own trees.
